Entrance £8, non-members £11 – 50% reduction for students

Karen won the British Jazz Award in the tenor saxophone category for 2017 and 2018. She is a saxophonist of great sensitivity and ability who, to quote Dave Gelly of The Observer ‘plays with muscular grace’.  Karen began her musical life learning piano and clarinet and took up tenor sax while studying composition at the Royal Northern College of Music.  Since then she has enjoyed an extended spell in the late Humphrey Lyttleton band and added playing the baritone sax to her impressive range of abilities.  Performances with her own quintet have received great acclaim from audiences and critics alike, giving Karen significant standing in the world of jazz.  Karen’s appearances at Googlies have always delighted our discerning audience with her great sound, energy and creative approach to improvisation. This evening, we are sure, will offer nothing less than another superb experience for all present.
