John is a musician who injects joy and spontaneity into every performance. He enjoys a glowing reputation throughout the jazz world and his unique approach to performing jazz that refuses to be simply categorised allied to an enthusiasm for performing goes some way to explaining why he has long been a particular favourite at Googlies. John worked with Soft Machine from 1975 and this month he is playing eleven dates of Soft Machine’s world tour. PROG Magazine stated ‘No band of this vintage have any right to sound so fearless and ferocious. Don’t miss them’. Just a few of the artists John has played with are Stephane Grappelli (1977-81), John Williams, Yehudi Menuhin, Dizzy Gillespie, Elton Dean, Nigel Kennedy, Pat Metheny, Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis and Mundell Lowe.
