A perennial favourite at Googlies, Julian is a local musician with a deservedly international reputation, who has long been regarded as an outstanding performer on all his instruments: clarinet, tenor sax and alto sax plus vocals and he brings out the best in those performing with him.  Julian has toured with top US clarinettist Ken Peplowski and featured with The Digby Fairweather Half Dozen. He leads The Dream Band, a Latin influenced jazz funk sextet and he and guitarist Dominic Ashworth perform as the Dream Duo. Julian won the 2019 British Jazz Award in the clarinet category and according to Ken Peplowski, ‘Julian is ‘a thoroughly engaging and vibrant clarinettist. He’s got it all – sound, technique, ideas and feeling’. Sir John Dankworth said that ‘Julian is the best British clarinettist to emerge for decades’.
