Described by none other than Clark Tracey as “One of the best vibes players that this country has ever produced”, Nat has established himself as a firm favourite at Googlies, his mastery of the beguiling vibraphone is simply astonishing. Following the style of Milt Jackson, Nat takes a two mallet approach to improvisation, focussing on melodic interpretation and a great swing feel as can be heard on his quartet’s CD ‘Portrait of the MJQ’, which received rave reviews in BBC Music Magazine and from Dave Gelly in the Observer and was awarded four stars in ‘Jazzwise’. With innate musicality, taste and technique in abundance, Nat’s performances are always worth catching.
