Vasilis is one of the highflyers of British jazz.  He is renowned, not only for being an outstanding saxophonist but also as a bandleader, composer and educator – he was a member the Nigel Price Trio which won the Britsh Jazz Small Group Award. An evening with Vas is illuminated by his energy, creativity and engaging manner.

Vasilis began his music education, learning piano & clarinet, at the age of ten in Athens. By 1999 he had graduated from Phillipos Nakas Conservatory and won a scholarship for the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Following his graduation in 2001 he moved to England and, to the delight of British jazz enthusiasts, has settled here permanently. From his very first engagement at Googlies, Vasilis has proven to be one of the most engaging guest artists to visit us; he is a remarkably talented saxophonist who plays with such passion and composure that his performances at Googlies are a delight to everyone lucky enough to be present.

Vasilis is a member of ‘Five-Way Split’ who have recorded ‘All The Way’ a CD recently awarded four stars in Jazzwise.
