SUMMARY:THURSDAY FEBRUARY 5 2026 - LIANE CARROLL VOCALS AND PIANO
DESCRIPTION:We’re absolutely delighted to welcome back Liane Carroll – a dear friend of Googlies and a firm favourite with our audiences over many years.\nLiane brings the rare gift of doing two things brilliantly: she sings with soul and plays piano with serious chops. The awards tell part of the story – two BBC Jazz Awards and Best Female Jazz Vocalist at the inaugural Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Awards – but you need to hear her live to understand why she’s earned them.\nOver sixteen albums\, she’s developed a sound that’s unmistakably hers. She’s shared stages with the cream of British and international jazz talent – Ian Shaw\, John Etheridge\, and Claire Martin among them.\nThe Guardian called her “a world-class act”\, but we think she’s simply one of the most compelling performers you’ll catch at any jazz club in the country.\nDon’t miss this one.

SUMMARY:THURSDAY FEBRUARY 12 2026 – ALLISON NEALE ALTO SAX AND FLUTE
DESCRIPTION:Allison Neale – a true favourite at Googlies and someone who’s graced our stage to much applause.\nAllison plays alto and flute with a West Coast cool sensibility that draws from the greats – Paul Desmond\, Art Pepper\, and Stan Getz among them. She grew up in Seattle absorbing her father’s jazz collection before the family returned to the UK\, where she cut her teeth with the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.\nHer approach is understated but deeply musical. She favours the classic songbook and works beautifully in a quartet setting\, particularly with guitar in the rhythm section. Over the years Allison has recorded several lovely albums exploring standards and bop repertoire\, and she’s been a regular at Ronnie Scott’s\, the 606 Club\, and Pizza Express\, often sitting in with visiting American players.\nExpect lyrical\, carefully crafted playing – the real deal.

SUMMARY:THURSDAY FEBRUARY 19 2026  - NAT STEELE VIBES
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to welcome back Nathaniel Steele – another firm favourite who’s become a regular at Googlies.\nNat plays vibes in the Milt Jackson tradition – two mallets\, melodic lines\, no fuss. Clark Tracey called him “one of the best vibes players this country has ever produced”\, which tells you plenty. He launched his career with a sold-out album release at Ronnie Scott’s in 2017\, showcasing his Modern Jazz Quartet tribute project. The album picked up BBC Music Magazine’s Jazz Album of the Month and four-star reviews across the board.\nHe’s largely self-taught\, learning from records and the musicians he grew up watching at Ronnie’s from age 13. Coming from a musical family (his father’s a noted contemporary composer\, his brother plays bass)\, Nat took the scenic route – violin\, clarinet\, piano\, Cuban percussion in Havana\, drums – before settling on vibes in his late teens.\nBeyond performing\, he co-founded BopFest with saxophonist Allison Neale in 2015. What started as a long weekend grew into a week-long celebration of straight-ahead jazz in London.\nExpect top-drawer vibes\, here at Googlies on February 19.

SUMMARY:ANDY PANAYI ON SAX AND FLUTE AT GOOGLIES THURSDAY FEBRUARY 26 2026
DESCRIPTION:Andy Panayi commands every saxophone and flute he picks up. His virtuosity spans jazz and classical worlds with equal authority.\nThe list of legends he’s shared a stage with reads like a jazz hall of fame. Wynton Marsalis\, Phil Woods\, Joe Lovano\, Roy Hargrove. Vocalists from Shirley Bassey to Paul McCartney have called on his skills. He’s backed everyone from Freddie Hubbard to Elvis Costello\, from Stan Tracey to John Dankworth.\nBeyond performing\, Panayi shapes the future of jazz education. He holds professorships at the Royal College of Music\, the Royal Academy of Music\, and Birmingham Conservatoire. Both ABRSM and Trinity College London tap his expertise to build their jazz syllabuses.\nHis trophy cabinet speaks volumes: the Marty Paich Arranging Award\, the John Dankworth Soloist Award\, the Worshipful Company of Musicians Jazz Medal\, and British Jazz Awards for his flute work.\nPanayi leads his own ensembles and writes commissioned pieces that bridge improvisation and composition. A master musician at the peak of his powers.
