Louise Cookman on Vocals Thursday December 4 2025 at Googlies
SUCH A PLEASURE TO WELCOME BACK Louise Cookman, one of the UK’s leading big band, jazz and swing era vocalists. For more than two decades, her rich, velvety voice, instinctive musicality and warm, witty stage presence have won over audiences throughout the UK and abroad.
Louise specialises in swing and big band vocals, with a deep love and understanding of the Great British and American songbooks. Her warm tone and engaging personality allow her to connect effortlessly with live audiences, bringing infectious joy to every performance.
Louise spent over five years as vocalist with the world-famous Pasadena Roof Orchestra and became a regular special guest singer on BBC Radio 2’s Big Band Special. She’s toured the UK as guest vocalist with clarinet virtuoso Ken Peplowski and the BBC Big Band, and has appeared with the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, the Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, the Len Phillips Swing Orchestra and Michael Law’s Piccadilly Dance Orchestra. She also features in Peter Long’s highly regarded recreation of Benny Goodman’s 1938 Carnegie Hall concert.
She’s performed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Cadogan Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, appeared on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4, and featured in period TV drama. She was the featured vocalist on “Len Goodman’s Dancing Feet” and “Len Goodman’s Dance Band Days” for BBC4 television.
Louise has recorded with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, clarinettist Pete Neighbour (alongside Dave Newton and Jim Mullen), Michael Law’s Piccadilly Dance Orchestra and drummer Steve Rushton. Her own album of jazz standards, “That Old Feeling”, is available on Spotify and iTunes.
The Times praised her “sultry vocals that sit perfectly amid the rich settings of the band.” Always a favourite at Googlies, looking forward to another wonderful evening with Louise.
