Unique on the UK jazz scene, American-born Allison Neal’s alto saxophone sound is instantly appealing. She is widely regarded as one of the finest exponents on today’s scene of the West Coast ‘cool jazz’ style of Paul Desmond. Allison spent her formative years playing alto in the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra where she had the opportunity to perform with many leading international artists. Holding the flute chair in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra between 1996 and 1998 propelled her development and in no time at all Allison was a well sought-after musician. An extremely melodic & lyrical approach to jazz gives Allison a wide appeal and we welcome her return to Googlies. To quote Dave Gelly in the Observer “Allison Neale plays the alto saxophone with a tone so light and airy it positively melts at the edges”.
