Dave O’Higgins – Saxophones
May 16 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Entry members £10 non-members £12. There is a 50% concession for students for all events.
Dave is an internationally renowned saxophonist who will be delivering jazz of the very highest quality with a style that is simultaneously melodic, fluent and inventive. He is always interestingly informative with a great knack of understanding his audience and fellow musicians.
Dave is a member of the Darius Brubeck Quartet which plays to sold-out houses at regional festivals and clubs around the UK and beyond. He currently plays (and records) with guitarist Rob Luft (O’Higgins & Luft play Monk & Trane) and pianist Graham Harvey (The Harvey O’Higgins Project). He has worked with some of the world’s finest musicians, including: Joe Lovano, Phil Woods, Jimmy Smith, Nancy Wilson, Peggy Lee, Wayne Shorter, Stephane Grappelli and Michel Legrand. In 1992, Dave played at the Albert Hall for Frank Sinatra’s final UK appearance. To date he has released 25 CDs as leader. We very much welcome his return to Googlies which should not be missed.
‘A stunning player in the neo-bop vein, with an apparently effortless flow of coherent ideas, beautiful time and a highly developed harmonic sense.’ JAZZ GUIDE
‘Dave O’Higgins plays with quite exceptional fluency and his fund of ideas never runs out’ THE OBSERVER
