Simon Allen – Saxophones
25th January 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
The dreaded flu epidemic has affected us for this Thursday – Simon Allen has been badly hit and is unable to appear. Given the lack of time that we have to make alternative arrangements, we will go ahead with a performance from the House Quartet. The upside of this is that you will be able to hear a bit more than usual of Bill Yeomans and of Hilary Cameron’s vocal talent. To reflect the change of programme, we will reduce the price of entry by £2 per person and we hope that those of you that were intending to come will still support the evening. If not we will appreciate it if you will let us know. Apologies for any disappointment.
Entrance £7, non members £10
Simon studied saxophone at the Royal Academy, after beginning his career with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Pendulum Jazz Orchestra, performing alongside the likes of Jazz Stars Art Themen, Gerard Presencer and Peter King. Subsequently Simon was an integral member of both the Clark Tracey Quintet and the Stan Tracey Quartet. Recently Simon has been featuring in some outstanding bands of his own, with which he has toured internationally. At the time of his first visit Simon was one of our youngest guests and he immediately established himself as a firm favourite with the audience and house band. His enthusiasm for making music, remarkable command of the saxophone and marvellous improvisational skills, enable Simon to produce jazz of the highest quality. www.simonallensaxophone.com
