THE DENMARK STREET BIG BAND
We welcome The Denmark Big Band to Googlies on Sunday March 8.
There’s no doubt musical director Paul Burch will bring the swagger and fire of the golden big band era to Googlies.
Paul handpicked every musician for the Denmark Street Big Band for their stellar credentials and the chemistry they share from years of playing together. These aren’t session players thrown together for a gig. Burch recruited friends and colleagues from his days with the Coldstream Guards and from luxury cruise liner orchestras. The lineup reads like a who’s who of British jazz excellence. Band members have shared stages with music royalty and filled West End orchestra pits night after night. This promises to be the same kind of electricity that defined the Basie, Ellington and Goodman orchestras.
The band takes its name from Denmark Street, the London thoroughfare that pulses at the heart of Britain’s music scene. Expect tight arrangements, soaring brass sections, and rhythm that refuses to quit. This is big band music that swings hard and takes no prisoners.
The club and bar will be open from 2.30.
