JULIAN STRINGLE AND PETE NEIGHBOUR PLAYING CLARINETS GOOGLIES THURSDAY MARCH 5 2026

March 5 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
£12.00

Doors open at 7pm.

Two childhood friends reunite on clarinet for an evening of pure swing sophistication.

Julian claimed Best Clarinettist at the British Jazz Awards twice – in 2006/7 and again in 2019. Sir John Dankworth called him “the best clarinettist to emerge in British jazz for decades.” High praise, but earned. His influences range from Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw through to Eddie Daniels and Oscar Peterson, with Delius thrown in for good measure.
A child prodigy, Julian trained at the Latymer Music School before studying clarinet with Wilf Keeley and composition with William Lloyd Webber at London College of Music. His playing blends melodic grace with technical brilliance that excites purists and newcomers alike.

Pete Neighbour grew up in east London and let music carry him around the world. Classically trained but jazz-obsessed, he lives for the swing era. His clarinet has graced stages from the Royal Albert Hall to the Lincoln Centre, from Singapore jazz clubs to the Palace of Versailles.
He’s played private parties for Prince Charles, Michael Caine and Mick Jagger. He performed at President Obama’s inaugural ball in 2009. The Cannes Film Festival, the Orient Express, the House of Lords – Pete’s played them all.

Two clarinet masters, one shared history, countless hours of swing. Welcome back, gentlemen.
