Tim Whitehead – Saxophones

October 17 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

In the 1970s Tim Whitehead toured with Ian Carr’s Nucleus and with Graham Collier’s Music and he won a young jazz Musician of the year award. He was described by ‘The Rough Guide to Jazz’ as one of the most creative exciting and passionate tenor saxophonists in Europe and also one of the finest small group composers’. Dave Gelly wrote ‘Those of us who have caught him live have been left in blinking disbelief. It’s not just his mastery of the tenor saxophone, phenominal though it is, but the absolute conviction of his playing that is so impressive’.

Tim was featured for four years with Loose Tubes. In 2023 ‘Jazzwise’ published its latest view of  ‘The 100 Jazz Albums that Shook the World’. Included was the Loose Tubes album ‘Delightful Precipice’ with Tim Whitehead on tenor sax.
