Adam Glasser is a versatile musician born in Cambridge, England in 1955 while his South African composer father Stanley “Spike” Glasser was studying at King’s College. Raised in South Africa, Adam was influenced by the vibrant Johannesburg jazz scene and legendary musicians from his father’s musical productions “King Kong” and “Mr Paljas.” After graduating from Warwick University with a BA in European Literature, he moved to Paris in 1979 to study jazz piano before returning to London to build his career. Adam has worked with South African alto player Dudu Pukwana, served as pianist and musical director for The Manhattan Brothers for 16 years, and became an accomplished chromatic harmonica player, performing with artists including Dominic Miller, Zero 7, and even filling in for Stevie Wonder. His notable achievements include winning the Peter Whittingham Award in 1996 and producing the album “Inyembezi” for The Manhattan Brothers, released by EMI South Africa in 2006, alongside his own album “Free at First.”
