June 19 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Pete Long is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who began his professional journey after studying at the Royal London College of Music and playing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, where he mastered all five saxophone parts, flute, bass guitar, and even trumpet. His versatile career includes touring with the award-winning sax quartet “Itchy Fingers,” performing alongside Dizzy Gillespie and Chick Corea, and extensive work in London’s West End theaters. Pete’s session work led to his contributions on Stereophonics’ hit “Handbags and Gladrags,” which became the UK’s best-selling single in 2002. During five years with Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, he worked with music legends including Tom Jones and Paul McCartney. Currently, Pete divides his time between education, solo jazz performance (including regular returns to Googlies Jazz Club), and his primary focus as bandleader and orchestrator of his award-winning Echoes of Ellington orchestra, whose album “The Jazz Planets” won Times “Must Have Jazz CD Of The Year.”
