Simon Spillett on Saxophone
June 26 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Simon Spillett is a multi-award-winning tenor saxophonist who has established himself as a prominent figure in UK jazz over his twenty-five year career. Beyond his powerful, straight-ahead playing style that ranges from energetic bebop to soulful balladry, Simon has excelled as a quartet and big band leader, author, historian, record producer, archivist, and columnist. His impressive performance credentials include sold-out appearances at major festivals (EFG London Jazz Festival, Brecon) and top venues nationwide, including regular appearances at Googlies Jazz Club. A charismatic performer with observational wit, Simon understands that jazz is entertainment as much as art, making him an infectiously passionate communicator whether playing or discussing his speciality – UK jazz history.
