We’re thrilled to have Geoff Mason back at Googlies tonight – he’s become one of our regulars.
This North London trombonist has carved out quite a reputation on the jazz circuit. You’ll find him blowing with some of the scene’s heavyweight big bands – Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Club, and The Squadronaires among them.
When he’s not touring festivals or laying down tracks for film and telly (he’s contributed to “Grow Your Own” and BBC’s “The Debt”), Geoff fronts his own quintet with saxophonist Mike Coats. They’ve cut three records, earned airtime on BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM, and played the major UK jazz festivals.
The calibre of musicians Geoff works with tells you everything – American visitors like Scott Hamilton and Greg Abate, British heavyweights Derek Nash and Digby Fairweather, and he even hit the road with Martha and the Vandellas.
Expect top-drawer trombone tonight.
